I have been trying to walk a bit before breakfast just to get in more steps each day and to get the metabolism going early. I began combining it with the app Pray as You Go from the Jesuits in Ireland. There is lovely music, Scripture with some guidance and then a doxology. It takes about 10-12 minutes--just right for my walk down Mapleton Road and back. And I get in 1800 plus steps. I like the British accents reading Scripture and it does give me something to think about--today what am I doing for "the least of these?" Last week, what temptations am I facing?
We have also joined a small group from our church (and we have joined a church--another blog for that later) that will meet on Tuesdays during Lent--a good way to get to know some more people and to focus on the reading for the next Sunday. The first meeting was good and we look forward to the next. We purposely looked for one with young people in it and we were definitely the old folks there. Ironically, or coincidentally, the other older man asked for prayers for his radiation treatment for prostate cancer--his second round of it. That request inspired Jim to mention his treatments too--I hoped he would but felt I had to leave it up to him.
When Lent is over and it is Easter, Jim will be almost done with the daily radiation. That will be one more reason to celebrate!
